Hey, it's Cassie, the naturalistic nurse, and welcome to your free training, the hidden secret to affirmations that actually work. So you might be here because you've tried to use affirmations in the past, or maybe it's part of your current practice. And for some reason, they just don't stick all the time or just kind of feel stale or maybe you want to start using affirmations just because you've heard how beneficial they can be for your healing process but you want to make sure that you're doing it in a way that's effective rather than just fluff so if any of those apply to you you're in the perfect place i'm assuming that you know what an affirmation is That's kind of why we're all here, but for the sake of clarity and affirmation, it's just a statement that you make that helps you combat negative thoughts and moves you toward a desired goal or outcome that you want to embody, that you want to become your lived experience.
[00:59-01:22]
So some really common examples that we've kind of all heard, I am confident, I am worthy, I am healing. So it's like you have a goal, right? Like you want to be confident and you flip that into an affirmation. So you say, I am that thing now. And somehow repeating that is supposed to make it come true, you know?
[01:22-01:44]
So some very common affirmations that we hear, but stopping here is actually where most people go wrong. The most important thing for an affirmation to be truly effective is that you actually believe it. It needs to resonate with you. And I know that might seem counterintuitive because it's like, well, I believed that I was confident already.
[01:44-02:13]
Like, why would I need to be saying this affirmation to help me become confident, you know? But your whole self doesn't need to believe it at this time. Just a tiny, tiny part of you, one percent of you needs to believe it's true or needs to believe that it can happen, that it's at least possible. And just that slightest difference of ensuring that it resonates with you makes a world of difference of how effective your affirmation really is.
[02:14-02:38]
So here are 3 steps to find the right affirmation for you. And you'll notice that this practice is all about checking in with your body rather than your mind. So first, just take a breath. Say the affirmation and ask yourself, does at least a small part of me believe it's true?
[02:38-02:59]
Does it resonate? And again, just to reiterate how important it is that yourself that you're asking is not you up here. It's you here in your body, in your heart. So let's go back to those examples. I am confident.
[02:59-03:20]
This is one that I personally struggled with a whole lot. I would never be able to say this sentence truthfully to myself. So how do you find the right affirmation for yourself? You want to just remove yourself by one step from that goal, right? So I am confident.
[03:20-03:45]
Here are some other examples. I'm learning to be confident. I'm building my confidence. I'm becoming more confident every day. So you can see how these examples are very related to the goal and where you want to be. But depending where you're at, you want to find the one that resonates with you at that time.
[03:45-04:07]
The second example, I am worthy. So this one is this one kind of like makes me cringe a little bit because this is a good example of like making sure it resonates. I really, really struggled with self-worth for so many years. But the statement I am worthy is like, when would that ever resonate with me?
[04:07-04:26]
Because. I don't even use the word worthy in my everyday life. Like most people don't, I feel like. I never hear people use that word in their daily life. So if having self-worth is a desire of yours, then you want to make sure your affirmation is in words that you actually use, you know? So here are some examples.
[04:27-05:01]
I allow myself to receive compliments or I let myself receive compliments. ......... I'm learning to value myself more every day. have a lot to offer and notice that none of these examples have the words worthiness or worth in them they're just much more like plain language which is an example of just how you can tweak an affirmation to make sure that it's resonant with you and finally the last example i am healing This one was a really difficult one for me for many, many years.
[05:02-05:23]
When I was in just like the darkest depths of my own healing journey with my skin, I couldn't say the words, I am healing. They just didn't feel true to me at all. ......... So here are some examples that are related, still moving you toward that goal, but different. I'm learning how to heal.
[05:23-06:00]
I opened myself up to the possibility of healing. And If even that something like that feels like too much, or just like it also doesn't resonate, it doesn't feel true, remove yourself by one step even further. Like, I'll try to open myself up to the possibility of healing, you know, it doesn't matter where you are in your process, as long as what you're saying is resonant, and it's still moving you in the direction that you want to go. So really what matters most is that it resonates with you and that you connect with the words that you're saying.
[06:01-06:21]
Otherwise you're just saying meaningless statements and you want this practice to be really meaningful so that it can move the needle forward. And just remember that what feels true today might feel different tomorrow. And that's totally okay. When I was really deep in my healing journey, my affirmations would not even change day to day. They changed by the hour.
[06:21-06:39]
So that really just emphasizes the importance of checking in with your body and adjusting as needed. As long as you keep doing that, keep checking in and keep adjusting to meet yourself where you're at, you will get there.
