Sharing Your Eczema / TSW Story

Welcome to the second episode of my NEW SERIES, #EverydayEczema! In this episode, I talk about why it's important to share YOUR healing story with the people in your life and how it will further perpetuate your ultimate healing.

#EverydayEczema is made up of personal anecdotes from my real life about what it's like to HAVE severe eczema, go through topical steroid withdrawal (TSW), and HEAL FROM IT. They are small moments of everyday life packed with big lessons, inspiration, and humor to help you get through your own healing journey and remind you that you are not alone.

Hey it's Cassie the naturalistic nurse and welcome back to another story of my everyday eczema. So the other day somebody that I connected with through Instagram messaged me for the first time and she said that she wasn't sure if she still wanted to pursue her dream to become a nurse and because of her eczema and that one day she just randomly found my instagram and that i inspired her and i gave her the hope that she needed to know that it's very very much possible to become a successful rn even though it's really hard sometimes with eczema and This is one of the kindest messages that someone has ever shared with me since I started The Knot Nurse and it just made me think how much I really really strongly urge you to share your own story.

    [00:57-01:33]

Of course you can share as much or as little about what you're going through as you want but for a few reasons I feel like it's very important to the healing process and you know to the people in your life and to the people not in your life but that might be going through the exact same thing that you're going through. First and foremost, sharing my story with the people in my life and being as public about it as I have been has been probably the most therapeutic thing that I have experienced in the past 15, 16 months since I started this whole thing.

    [01:33-01:54]

And I honestly don't think that I would have healed to the point where I am today if it had not been for that outlet. And secondly, they do say that the final step of healing is to help others heal too. ......... And you can do this at any point in your healing journey.

    [01:54-02:58]

It doesn't have to be at the very end, but definitely when you feel comfortable enough to do so. you have no idea how likely it is that there is somebody out there yearning to hear the words of your story. And that's actually what happened to me when this whole thing started. ......... I found somebody's random blog post, and at the time I was feeling so lost and scared about what was going on to my body, being so just freaked out because of all the shedding that was happening it just didn't it wasn't normal and I felt like nobody could relate to me and that's all I needed at that at that point that's all that's the only thing that could have helped me and then I found somebody's random blog post on the internet and it was just a short sentence and only a few words in that sentence that talked about shedding little piles of dead skin on their floor and that they would sweep them up every day.

    [02:58-03:52]

And reading those few words gave me such an immense amount of comfort and solace and belonging that I was so desperate for at that time. And I still remember looking at the screen and reading that and it was a feeling that I'm never gonna forget. so just know that sharing your story and your struggle and your sorrow with the world or even just with the people in your lives it will help other people even if they can't relate it will help them understand you better and understand your experience and if they're going through that too it'll give them that sense of belonging that they're not alone and that they can heal from this too.
